Homemade sushi is much easier than it looks. These simple rolls are filled with fresh salmon or tuna, creamy avocado and seasoned sushi rice wrapped in nori. Perfect for a fun date night at home or when you're craving sushi without the takeout price tag.

Estimated Recipe & Ingredients

Makes about 4 rolls / 32 pieces

  • 4 sheets nori seaweed

  • 2 cups cooked sushi rice

  • 4 oz sushi-grade salmon, sliced into strips

  • 4 oz sushi-grade tuna, sliced into strips

  • 1 medium avocado, sliced

  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • ½ tsp salt

  • Soy sauce, for serving

  • Spicy mayo, optional

  • Sesame seeds, optional

Mix the warm sushi rice with rice vinegar, sugar and salt, then allow it to cool. Place a sheet of nori on a sushi mat and spread a thin layer of rice over it. Add avocado and either salmon or tuna across the center. Roll tightly, slice into about 8 pieces and repeat with the remaining ingredients.
